Card Substrates for Identities

Card Substrates for Identities

For a security ID card or document, the security level is first considered, however the card and document substrate materials are also crucial. For example, a national ID card or driver license, it will be used for a long time like 5 or 8 years, sometimes 10 years and more. Thus the security cards need to have very high quality and durability.

Currently, there are different options for card and document substrate materials, like PVC/PEGT/PC, security papers, teslin etc. An ID card's substrate material need to be compatible with different processing include printing, heating, cooling, hot or cold stamping, punching and so. These materials have their own physical properties and suitable for different application.

IMAGE Micro-Nano Tech is compatible with these substrates, PVC, PETG, security paper, teslin etc, by the most widely used processing solutions, lamination, hot stamping, transferring, with different product form, in sheet, roll or single piece.

Teslin

Teslin

Teslin is a kind of single layer material, with much lower density compared with PET, PVC and PC. It is also suitable for almost all the conventional printing methods, like digital printing, gravure printing, laser and inkjet printing. Excellent printing compatibility is very important for security ID cards and documents, because their printing process are much more complicated than commercial products and their packages. For a national ID card and driver license, many countries use lamination pouch form and use teslin as the inner core.
